Sky Pie Studio is looking for a motion-minded creative ninja who's interested in joining our posse!
We are a small Brooklyn-based studio with oversized ambitions. We tell stories in stop motion, live action video, photo, 2D animation, and secret blends of all of these – sometimes to satisfy our sprinkle-covered hearts, and sometimes for big fancy brands. Our mascot is a flying penguin named Popeye. If you’ve never seen a penguin fly, you’re hanging with the wrong penguins.
We're looking for someone who's been around the block a little (but not in the dirty way.) You're not going to be an expert at everything – in fact that's partly the idea – but we've got a very, very lengthy wish list. Not for the faint of heart, but if you like a challenge, read on.
This is the cornerstone of our studio! We're hoping to bring someone on who's already got some superfly TNT video production & motion chops. Animators / Motionographers / Illustrators / anyone who thinks in storyboards and talks in shots & cuts is welcome.
A Creative Ninja
Our ‘titles’ don’t keep us from jumping into anything that needs done and neither should yours. You will be a swiss-army knife of creativity. You may be the first person to see a brief for a project. Or maybe you come up with the idea yourself. Or work on the set design. Or production. Or editing. Or who knows. We're looking for someone who gets excited about the creative process and is eager to be a part of ALL of it.
The idea always takes the cake. You will be in the thick of concept development for every shoot that comes through this studio, so hopefully you don't mind sticking post-it notes all over the walls and yelling out crazy-undoable ideas.
If you can draw those undoable ideas, we you already.
We often have several projects in post-production at the same time, so we need support in compositing, keying, adding sound, coloring, and making everyone & everything look really, ridiculously good-looking. If the fit is right (you love doing post and are really smashing at it) perhaps this role could grow to be a freelance position.
Everything from set-design and construction to lighting. An eye for illustration, design, chopping, gluing, and building things with your HANDS! We will be on set or on-location at least once a month, and several times over when things are rolling. If you have experience in this- super dupes- if not we will teach you!
As this is a small team, everyone really has to pull their weight, and then some. We don't want someone who just comes in to check things off a list. We want you to take the initiative to see what things could be done better, and how you can help get it done! If you get lemons, make lemonade. If we're out of lemons, make lemonade anyways -- lemonade is tasty.
You. Must. Be. Nice. No grouches allowed.

Be creative! Non-boring applications always shoot to the top!
No calls or FB/Instagram messages por favor. We'll be looking through responses over the upcoming weeks and will get back to you shortly if it seems like a good fit.
Thanks so much and looking forward to meeting you!
