Our studio is scaling up - looking for an animation-minded creative ninja who's interested in joining our posse!
We are a small Brooklyn-based storytelling (yes we know this word is almost as bad as 'synergy' but 'narrative-begetter' didn't flow as well)... studio. We tell said stories in stop motion, live action, photo, and secret blends of all of these - sometimes to satisfy our pastel-colored-sprinkle-covered hearts, and sometimes for big fancy brands. Our mascot is a flying penguin named Popeye. If you've never seen a penguin fly, you're simply hanging with the wrong penguins. We also run a creative workshop platform, CreateShops, which keeps us busy when we're not busy.
We're looking for someone who's been around the block a little (but not in the dirty way.)
You're not going to be an expert at everything -- in fact that's partly the idea -- but we've got a very, very lengthy wish list. See below.
This is the cornerstone of our studio! We're hoping to bring someone on who's already got some superfly TNT motion chops. Animators / Motionographers / Illustrators / anyone who thinks in storyboards and loves storytelling is welcome.
A Creative Ninja
My 'title' does not keep me from jumping into anything that needs done and neither should yours. You will be a swiss-army knife of creativity. You may be the first person to see a brief for a project. Or maybe you come up with the idea yourself. Or work on the set design. Or production. Or editing. Or who knows. We're looking for someone who gets excited about the creative process and is eager to be a part of ALL of it.
The idea always takes the cake. You will be part of the conceptualizing of every shoot that comes through this studio, so hopefully you don't mind sticking sticky-notes all over the walls and screaming crazy-undoable ideas. If you can draw those ideas out (even really bad drawings), even better.
We often have several projects in post-production at the same time, so we need support in cleaning up files, color work, compositing, etc. If the fit is right (you love doing post and are really smashing at it) perhaps this role could grow to be a full-time position on the team.
Everything from lighting to set-building. We will be at my studio or on-location at least once a month, and several times over in busy times. *If you have experience in this it would be great but if not I will teach you!
As this is a small team, everyone really has to pull their weight, and then some. We don't want someone who just comes in to check things off a list. We want you to take the initiative to see what things could be done better, and how you can help get it done! If you get lemons, make lemonade. If we're out of lemons, make lemonade anyways -- lemonade is tasty.
You. Must. Be. Nice. You will be an outward-facing extension of the studio, so you've got to be easy to talk to. An inter-personal maven. The opposite of a 'grouch.' Your finesse and prowess in dealing with clients & other team members in person / phone / email is super-duper important.

Tell us about yourself. Things like...
Be creative! Non-boring applications always shoot to the top!
No calls or FB/Instagram messages por favor. We'll be looking through responses over the upcoming weeks and will get back to you shortly if it seems like a good fit.
Thanks so much and looking forward to meeting you!
